Update: GetOrderDetail method has been enhanced

If you currently use our WebServices 3.0, you may be using the 'GetOrderDetail()' function to get order information. We have recently enhanced the function to also return the 'Sent to Fulfillment date.' This enhancement helps wineries have greater visibility into fulfillment/shipping key dates.

Fix: Rate Limiting Update February 2023

If you have previously tried to return a large data set via our webservices, you may have noticed an error with the request. This was caused by our infrastructure being overwhelmed by repeated requests and our rate limits not functioning correctly. After successfully testing the update in our staging environment, we will re-implemented our rate limits to help prevent these errors and improve overall platform performance. These rate limits are:

  • Number of maximum concurrent requests per username per second: 6 requests
  • Number of maximum requests per username at the last minute: 300 requests

We are giving advanced notice today since these rate limit changes may affect some wineries. We intend to implement this change on March 1st at around 5:00 a.m. PST.

For more information about rate limits, check out the documentation.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact support@winedirect.com, and we will be happy to assist.

New Feature: Stronger Password Policy for Winery Customers

Online security continues to be a top concern for wineries. WineDirect is always looking at the latest security trends to keep wineries and their customers safe.

We are excited to announce our new, more secure password policy for your winery customers. Having a strong and unique password can drastically help protect them against malicious attempts. New passwords must:

  • Be at least 12 characters long.
  • Contain letters, numbers and special characters (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/)

This update will only affect new passwords created for new users or users who change their password or edit their profile; current passwords will not be affected.

Here is where the new password policy is live and where it is planned to be implemented next.

Phase One (currently live):

  • Front-end websites
  • Forgot password
  • Edit profile

Phase Two (ETA: Q1 2023):

  • Point-of-Sale (POS)

Please check our security documentation for more information about WineDirect's security measures.

Fix: API Rate Limiting Reimplemented

Update - Friday, January 27th, 2023:

We will deploy rate limiting to our staging environment, and you can begin testing starting next week.

The staging endpoint is https://webservices-docker.staging.vin65.com, and the environment will be available for testing from January 30th to February 3rd.

We will monitor feedback and share more information after the testing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact support@winedirect.com for assistance. We appreciate your patience.

Update - Thursday, October 27th, 2022:

We originally planned to re-implement the rate limits on Wednesday, October 26th. Some wineries noticed issues when we tried to re-implement the rate limits. We have rolled back the update and are currently investigating the matter. Our team is working diligently towards a fix.

If you have questions about the re-implementation or are having any issues with rate limits, please feel free to contact support@winedirect.com for assistance. We appreciate your patience.

If you have previously tried to return a large set of data via our webservices, you may have noticed an error with the request. As this change can be crucial for some wineries, we wanted to ensure we let wineries know ahead of the change. We plan to make this change on October 26th @ 5:00 am PST.

New: Additional Security Features

Online security is a top concern for wineries. WineDirect is leading the charge for having one of the industry's most secure ecommerce solutions and is continuously looking to improve the platform experience for wineries and customers.

We are happy to announce two new additional security features to help your wineries against malicious attacks when it comes to the backend (Auth0) of your store:

  • Brute-force Protection – Helps safeguard against a single IP address attacking a single user account. When the same IP address tries and fails multiple times (for example, 10 times) to log in as the same user, brute-force protection: sends an email to the winery and blocks the suspicious IP from logging in as that user
  • Breached Password Detection – It helps detect if a specific user's credentials were included in a major public security breach and will notify the winery and block that user from signing in

These features are already automatically enabled for all WineDirect stores. You will be notified by email if there are any malicious attacks with someone trying to log into your store.

As The Winery's Champion, it's crucial that we do everything possible to provide a seamless and safe checkout experience for wineries. We will continuously review and frequently evolve security policies, practices, and infrastructure. Thank you for your ongoing support!

We have recently implemented an automatic process to verify order status within WineDirect. Your winery may have noticed that some of your orders were left on a pending/pending status, even though they were completed orders. Moving forward, we now have a more robust and automatic tool to handle issues like these to ensure your reporting and accounting is consistent.

No manual intervention or additional setup is needed. Should you experience the above situation in the future, please email support@winedirect.com, and our team will be happy to help you troubleshoot. Thank you.
