New: Reporting on CRV

Update 4/18/2024: You can now view CRV for all orders in the Nexternal Order Export report. To access this report, go to Reports > Shipping > Nexternal Order Export.

Update 3/7/2024: Starting March 11, 2024, WineDirect will have revised how custom taxes are displayed in Daily Activity Reports:

  • If there are orders WITH Custom taxes/CRV fee for the date range, regardless of whether the Custom taxes and CRV fee setting is checked or not, then the row for Custom taxes/CRV fee is displayed.
  • If there are orders WITHOUT Custom taxes/CRV fee for the date range, regardless of whether the Custom taxes and CRV fee setting is checked or not, then the row for Custom taxes/CRV fee is not displayed.

Good news! After launching the California Refund Value (CRV) collection, we added the option to view CRV in various reports in WineDirect. Here is the current list of reports that will let you report on CRV:

  • QuickBooks V.2
  • Orders by Numbers
  • Orders by Customers
  • Orders by Ship/Pickup Date
  • Orders Details Report
    • There is now an extended CRV Amount column in the Order Detail report.
  • Nexternal Order Export

Recommend: Enable additional email authentication

Earlier this year, Google and Yahoo announced new requirements for high-volume email senders (exceeding 5,000 daily emails). Email authentication, once merely a suggestion, is now crucial for major email providers to receive your emails. You can learn more about the sending requirements here.

While these changes may not directly impact your winery, we strongly recommend taking proactive steps to enable DMARC (Domain-based message authentication, reporting and conformance) for your emails. We have devised a streamlined procedure to help you implement DMARC.

By enabling DMARC, you stand to benefit in the following ways:

  • 📧 Improved email deliverability: Ensure your emails consistently reach your intended recipients, enhancing communication with your consumers.
  • 🔐 Enhanced security: Protect your winery's online presence by fortifying the authentication process, protecting your reputation and consumer's trust.

Not sure if you have DMARC enabled?

You can use a free tool such as this to check if your domain's DMARC has already been set up. All you need to do is enter the domain in your sending email address (such as info@wineryname.com) and scroll down to see if it is enabled.

Fixed: Issue with Move5000/VP3300

Updated 4/16/2024: We have applied fixes for both devices and no longer report any issues. We appreciate your patience as we worked towards a resolution.

Updated 2/28/2024: We're actively investigating and working to resolve this issue. If you are looking to set a custom tip amount, please get in touch with WineDirect Payments.


We have observed an issue with changing certain device settings on the Move5000 and VP3300. If you currently use one of these devices, please refrain from making the following changes to the device:

  • If you tap Device Settings in the POS app, select a VP3300 from the device dropdown, and tap "Edit EMV Terminal," please do not select "Enable Receipt Printer."
  • If you tap Device Settings in the POS, app select a Move5000 from the device dropdown, and tap "Edit EMV Terminal," please do not set the custom tip amounts from this menu.

We are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

Testing Complete: iOS Update 17

Update 1/31/2023: 

The WineDirect team has completed testing, and all users (including VivoPay users) can safely update their iOS software to version 17. Minimum requirement: iOS 13 or higher. Check device compatibility before updating. The benefits include enhanced security and optimized performance, opening the door to future product enhancements. We've also updated the WineDirect POS app to address issues related to Bluetooth devices. Here are the recommended steps to update your POS setup:

Recommended Steps

1. Update your iOS to version 17.

  • To manually update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

2. Update your WineDirect POS App

  • Important Note: Only update the WineDirect POS App if you are iOS 13 and above*
  • To update your WineDirect POS App, open the App Store.
  • Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
  • Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to the WineDirect POS App.

iOS Version 12 and below

As iOS undergoes regular updates, security concerns persist for older iOS versions. To address this, this and all upcoming releases of the WineDirect POS app will no longer be compatible with devices running iOS versions 12 and below. Learn more about iOS and WineDirect POS compatibility in our documentation.


Recommendations

As a best practice, we advise waiting for our testing of the new iOS update before initiating any updates on your iPad devices.

Disable Auto-Update

We recommend to disable automatic updates on your iPad device(s). You can do so by:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap App Store.

  3. Turn off App Updates.

Fix: Disabling duplicate orders for terminal orders

If you process orders through a terminal using a card, you might have observed an option to duplicate orders completed with an EMV terminal. However, this action leads to errors as there is no way to collect payment for these duplicated orders. To enhance order processing, we've taken the step to disable the option for duplicating orders where payment was collected via an EMV terminal.

Investigating: New email sending requirements

We now recommend that all clients enable additional email authentication through DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance). We have devised a streamlined procedure to help you implement DMARC for your emails.

Update 1/25/2024:

We've proactively emailed all clients whom we anticipate may be impacted by the latest requirements. If you dispatch at least 5,000 emails daily and haven't received our communication, kindly contact us at hello@winedirect.com, and we'll promptly follow up with you.


Recently, Google and Yahoo announced upcoming requirements set to affect high-volume email senders exceeding 5,000 emails per day. These requirements will go into effect by February 1st, 2024. Email authentication, once merely a suggestion, is now a crucial element for major email providers. You can learn more about the sending requirements here.

Here's a breakdown of the requirements that Google and Yahoo are imposing on senders:

  • Email authentication: Senders must authenticate their emails by implementing robust email authentication protocols like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
  • Easy unsubscribe: Users should have a seamless experience unsubscribing from unwanted emails, eliminating unnecessary complications.
  • Low spam percentage: Senders must ensure minimal spam, delivering only emails that recipients desire. A clearly defined spam rate threshold will be enforced to prevent recipients from being inundated with unwanted messages.

Complete: California CRV Implementation

Starting January 1, 2024, California Refund Value (CRV) will apply to wine products sold in and shipped to California.

Update January 3, 2023

We are currently investigating an issue in which enabling CRV from website settings does not immediately reflect on the website. CRV may still appear in the POS and admin panel despite the delay. We are observing that the CRV remains enabled on the website after some delay. We will update the status page once we have resolved this issue.

Update December 29, 2023

The CRV fee implementation has now been completed and can be used by wineries! By default, CRV fees are disabled for a winery. Please check out our full documentation on how to enable the CRV fee collection.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please don't make any other changes in this section unless you are working with a WineDirect specialist, as any change here may alter the system in ways that can affect your day-to-day operations, and it may take some time to troubleshoot properly.

Feature Overview

Our California CRV implementation conveniently streamlines CRV fee collection across all sales channels. When enabled, the system automatically collects CRV fees on orders based on container size which is set within the SKU's bottle settings.

  • By default, the CRV collection setting will be disabled. You can activate CRV collection from within the website settings of the admin panel.
  • For website, POS, and admin panel orders, a new CRV line item will outline the total California CRV amount.
  • GetOrderDetail will record the CRV fee in the Deposit response parameter.

Fix: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) through Email

Ensuring the highest level of security for our wineries is paramount at WineDirect. As the digital landscape evolves, so do our measures to protect you and your data.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) elevates security by requiring winery users to authenticate themselves when accessing the WineDirect SiteAdmin. This isn't just a standard username-password combo; it's an added layer of defense to confirm it's really you.

Recent A2P 10DLC modifications have led to an update in how we send MFA codes. While text messages (SMS) are no longer an option, you can seamlessly receive the code via the same email associated with your SiteAdmin user account or use an authenticator app.

If you currently have MFA enabled, you may be required to use another access code from email or an authenticator app to sign in.

How MFA works

Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) only triggers when SiteAdmin detects suspicious activity about the user's login. This behavior can include any or all of the following:

  • Logging in from a new device
  • A new physical location from their last login
  • A suspicious IP address

 

How to activate MFA

To enable MFA in your WineDirect SiteAdmin:

  1. To enable MFA, contact WineDirect support by clicking 'Contact support' at the bottom right of the admin panel, then 'Open a case with support' or emailing support@winedirect.com.

  2. A WineDirect team member will reach out to you once it is enabled.

  3. Upon your initial login after activation, the MFA screen will prompt you for a code. You must use an authenticator app when you first log in. After that, you can switch to email as your authentication method.

Fix: POS Blank Deposit Account Error

Some users may come across a blank ' Deposit Account ' field when using POS in conjunction with Zeamster as their default payment gateway. This will result in the subsequent error message:

“EMV will not be available until you select/create a new terminal and select a deposit account. Do you wish to continue without EMV enabled? 

Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

  1. Access WineDirect Admin Panel: Start by logging into the WineDirect Admin Panel.
  2. Locate POS Profiles Settings: Navigate to Settings > POS Profiles.
  3. Update POS Profile Settings: Find and select the POS profile you are currently using. In the “Deposit Account” section, choose the correct account associated with this POS profile in the dropdown menu.
  4. Save Changes: Click “Save” to confirm and apply your changes.

Once done, the error should no longer appear, and you should be able to use EMV functionalities without any issues.

Note: If the “POS” account doesn't save (meaning even after hitting Save, the screen displays an empty value), follow these steps:

  • First, select an alternative deposit account, like "Clubs," from the dropdown and press Save.
  • Then, reselect POS from the Deposit Account dropdown and click Save. You should now observe "POS" as the chosen deposit account.
