New: PINs on WineDirect Point of Sale

In conversations over the past year, many of you have told us that speed, ease of use and security are your top point of sale needs. We’ve heard you, and today we are excited to announce the release of POS PINs.

Starting now, you can assign a unique PIN code to each tasting room staff member that they can use to quickly log in and process orders on your POS.

PINs brings improved security and tracking to your POS, making it easy for you to assign unique login credentials to each staff member instead of relying on one shared username and password. It also increases the speed of transactions because staff won’t need to type in a long username and password - only a 4-digit PIN.

Key Benefits:

  • Process transactions faster by logging in with 4-digit PIN
  • Easily keep track of sales by associate, commissions and tips as PINs now link to the appropriate staff member
  • In-app setup allows for easy PIN configuration, especially for seasonal staff members

More Details:

Based on your feedback, our team is working hard on more POS features and upgrades. Stay tuned for more on that coming soon!

We often ring up each other's transactions. Will we still have the option to choose the sales associate at the end of the transaction?

@Ken - after the sale is completed, the additional order screen is where you can assign a different sales rep. Best practice though, is to have one PIN assigned to each sales person and they would only complete a transaction using their personal PIN (it's a security best practice as well).

Where can I print a report that will show the sales that each pin # is linked to?

If one employee logs in under their admin name and password and another employee needs to use their computer to ring up a guest, can the second employee just use their pin to login and show their sale or do they have to logout completely and then use their admin name and password before inputing their pin?

Hi @Kari. If you want a quick snapshot of how much each employee sold for a specific time period, then Sales Summary By Associate gives you a good 'at-a-glance' indication. If you want to drill into specific details of each order (rather than just a total) - Order Detail would be better.

It looks like Kaya already has PINs enabled - so once an employee has established a PIN they would only need to use their PIN to login. If someone is already logged in, they would first need to log out for another employee to log in with their PIN.

Hope that helps!

I do not like the feature of being logged out and typing in your Pin each time you end a transaction. Is there a way around this? It is not helpful to completing multiple transactions quickly with the same associate completing them on the iPad. Thoughts? Tips? Thank you!

Hi @Kristen - the forced login was implemented to increase security practices and ensure tasting room staff were getting credited with their sales (without forced login - it's easy for staff to just share a login and to process sales). If you'd prefer to turn it off - you can easily navigate to Settings>POS Profiles> then chose your POS profile and de-select 'force logout after transaction' in the additional options field within your POS profile.

Hi, we are about to go live with Wine Direct and POS and would like the PIN functionality but find it very slow in the test company (Pinewines) - we would like a very quick screen load once the pin is entered. POS speed is great though, just the pin function (it takes about 8 seconds to load page). Any ideas. Thakns, Leo
