DNS Update Procedure for Dyn DNS

These instructions will guide you through the process of updating your domain's DNS record to work with Vin65's new redirector.

For clients using Dyn DNS, Vin65 recommends the Managed DNS package. This package is available from Dyn for $7/month and provides DNS Aliasing. This is a new type of DNS record that works very well with Vin65's infrastructure.

Logging In

First, visit the Dyn Portal login page (opens in a new tab). Log in using your DynID username and password. If you do not have a DynID, click here to make one.

DNS Management

On the DNS Management page, locate the Zones section and click Create Zone.

On the zone creation page, enter your domain name as the Zone Name and enter a valid email address in the Mailbox field. Click Create Zone.

Back on the DNS Management page, locate the newly created zone and click Manage.

From the Add a New Record dropdown box, select (A) - IPv4 Address. Enter 52.41.61.31 as the IP address. Click Add.

Now, from the Add a New Record dropdown box, select (ALIAS) - ALIAS pseudo-record. Enter the address given to you by your Vin65 project manager. It will be similar to lbXX.uswest.vin65.com. Click Add.

At the bottom of the page, locate the Add a New Node section and enter www. Click Add Node

On this page, from the Add a New Record dropdown box, select (CNAME) - Canonical Name. In the CName field, enter the same address as you entered for the ALIAS record (lbXX.uswest.vin65.com). Click Add.

Now it is time to publish the zone. At the top of the page, click Publish Your Zone, then click Publish Zone.

That's it! Your domain is now set up to work with Vin65's new redirector system.
