What is a payment gateway and why do I need one?

Shopping carts need to route the transactions through a special routing system called a payment “gateway.” The gateway routes the transaction to the processor/acquirer.

There are fixed costs involved with driving transactions through a gateway. Ultimately, the merchant account provider or the gateway itself may charge you a monthly fee and a per-transaction fee. Will PayPal work for online payments with the WineDirect platform?

Why does Moneris not allow me to give online refunds?

The Moneris integration requires a separate invoice number on every attempt, so if a person tries a payment for invoice 1000 for example and they are declined, they click back and try a different card and it will not go through, unless we pass a different invoice number through. Our fix is to add the time stamp to the invoice number every time it’s passed through so there can be more than 1 attempt at paying the invoice. This has a side effect of not allowing us to act on voids or refunds because Moneris requires the invoice number for these as well, and we don’t have a method to record the timestamp that was passed through with the order number.

We have 5 integrations with other payment gateway providers that do not use this same method, they allow multiple attempts with the same invoice number, and they don’t require the invoice number for voids/refunds, just a separate transaction number.

We would recommend using a different payment gateway, but you could keep using Moneris as your in store payment system. Here are the ones we integrate with: Settings/Integrations/Payment-Gateways

Can I Import multiple Tracking Number to a single order using Order Tracking Importer?

Yes, WineDirect's Order Tracking Import tool allows you to Import multiple Tracking Numbers at the same time. You can do so by adding a new line with the same Order Number and then a new Tracking Number to this line- both Tracking Numbers will display on the designated Order Number.
