Like most online subscriptions, members of your wine club initially provide their credit card to be charged for multiple ongoing deliveries. These agreements are referred to as automatic renewal under California’s state law.
If you deliver any automatic renewal orders to a single person in the state of California, it’s your winery’s responsibility to comply with the California Automatic Purchase Renewal Law (CARL).
To help with this process, you have the option of adding terms and conditions in the General Information section of your clubs.
Once you’ve entered an agreement text, all club members from California that sign up to your club will need to agree to the terms to subscribe. Every time a customer agrees to the CARL terms, we’ll record the date, time, source, and specific terms that were agreed to can be displayed using filters in Club Reporting.
