Article Summary

How It Works

Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) only triggers 30 days after the code is entered and when SiteAdmin detects suspicious activity about the user's login. This behavior can include any or all of the following:

  • Logging in from a new device
  • A new physical location from their last login
  • A suspicious IP address

Once the feature is enabled, you must log in to configure MFA. After you enter your login details, you will see a screen asking you to secure your account with MFA.

You will need to use an authenticator app on your first sign-in. After that, you will have the option to use your SiteAdmin email address as your authentication method if you prefer.

If you a trouble scanning the QR code, you can click the 'Trouble Scanning?' text to receive a code to enter on the authenticator app.

Available Apps

Authenticator apps provide an easy way to authenticate you to log in to various applications. Here are some of the most used authenticator apps you can use with WineDirect's MFA security feature:

How to Enable

As Multi-Factor Authentication is not enabled by default, the WineDirect team will need to enable this feature on your store.

To enable MFA in your WineDirect SiteAdmin:

  1. To enable MFA, contact WineDirect support by clicking 'Contact support' at the bottom right of the admin panel, then 'Open a case with support' or emailing support@winedirect.com.
  2. A WineDirect team member will reach out to you once it is enabled.
  3. Upon your initial login after activation, the MFA screen will prompt you for a code. You must use an authenticator app when you first log in. After that, you can switch to email as your authentication method if you prefer.

Multi-Factor Authentication FAQs

How often will I need to re-enter the authentication code?

After you authenticate your account for the first time, it will ask you to re-authenticate every 30 days. Suppose suspicious activity is detected, such as logging in from a new device, a new physical location from their last login, or a suspicious IP address. In that case, it may ask you to re-enter your authentication code.

Will this have any effect on my customers?

No, you and your team will only see and use this feature.

How can I turn off MFA for my winery?

If you have turned on MFA and wish to turn it off, please feel free to reach out to support@winedirect.com, and the WineDirect team will be happy to help.
