Events

Vin65 offers two different styles of calendars that term ‘Block’ of ‘List.’ A block calendar looks like a traditional calendar you’d hang on your wall, great if you have multiple events. A list calendar shows more of a text view of each event listed above one another. You can choose which one you like best and you have the ability to change the style at any time, maybe even have both on your site.

Adding An Event Calendar

Before adding events to your website you will need to setup an Event Calendar. You will want to navigate to the Content Editor and Events to create and manage your calendars.

To add a new calendar simply click “Add A Calendar”. In the category field you will want to name your calendar. The Description field can be left blank, as it does not appear on the website. From the Layout tab you will select which calendar style you wish to use: Event List or Block Style Calendar. The order field refers to the order the calendar appears in the admin panel.

Adding An Event

Once you have your event calendar setup you can start adding events to it. The information that you enter for your event will automatically populate on your event calendar. To add a new event click “Add An Event”.

General Tab

The general tab allows you to setup the general event details. What its called, When it is, Where it is, and Who to contact. To start out you will want to select which calendar you want your event to appear on.

Event title: Refers to the title of the event which will appear on the event page. *Mandatory Field*

Calendar Title: Refers to the title that will appear on your calendar. These titles can be the same, however having separate titles can be useful for Block Style Calendars, as the space within each day box is limited. For long event names you may want to have a shorter Calendar title assigned. *Mandatory Field*

Call Out: Allows you to select which event callout style you would like to attach to your event. Event callouts allow you to vary your font color to stand out from other events listed on your calendar. These must be setup by the site designer. For more information please see the Event Callout Documentation.

From & To Dates: You can set the Dates for your event, which can cover a single day or period of time. *Both Mandatory Fields*

Is Active: Allows you to set an event as active or inactive. Active events will appear on event calendars, inactive will not. You can use this option to archive older events or setup future events that do not display until activated by an admin.

Link To: Allows you to add a redirect URL to skip directly from your event calendar to another page within your website or to and outside website. This option is helpful when creating event tickets. Rather than having a customer view information on the event calendar you can link to customer directly to your event ticket product for more information and to reduce the number of clicks to purchase.

All other information Event Time, Location, Contact, PhoneEmail, and Link To are optional.

Description Tab

This is where you can let customers know what you event is all about. You will add content in the same manner as your General Pages.

Event Call Outs

The event call out option allows you to created varied font colors to highlight different types of events. Call outs must be setup by the website designer and must be modified in the website CSS. Block and List style calendars render event callouts differently.

To create the basic names or to edit the names of existing call outs you will want to navigate Content Editor>Events>Event Callouts. From here you can view any of the callouts you designer has created. To modify the name you can click on the title or the pencil icon.

Call Out: This is the name of the call out as it appears in the drop down menu when creating a new event. These names are only seen internally and are not reflected on the website. The call out name can be modified

Code: This code will be used by the designer to apply to call out styling to your website. Please Note: Modifying this code will break the call out. This should only be modified if the CSS has been updated to match.

Do not remove or change the event call out 'Code' unless this update has been made in the website CSS. Removing this code will prevent your call out from displaying on the website.

Event Call outs must be created and styled by your website designer. If you would like the Vin65 design team to create and style callouts for you please contact support@vin65.com. Please note design fees will apply.
